The Bugang River in Antique province is a natural wonder known for its pristine waters, lush environs, and diverse recreational opportunities. Meandering through the heart of Antique, the river’s journey takes it through Pandan town’s dense forests and rock formations. Stretching over 6 kilometers and emanating from a headspring with a depth of 30 meters, the Bugang River originates around the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park, before flowing through the barangays of Candari, Santo Rosario, Guia, Zaldivar, and Mag-aba on its way to Pandan Bay.

The river’s transparency is one of its most striking attributes, enabling visitors to peer into its glistening depths, observing the aquatic life below. Revered as one of the Philippines’ cleanest rivers, the river earned the prestigious R.I.V.E.Rs (Recognizing Individuals/Institutions Towards Vibrant and Enhanced Rivers) for Life Award from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in June 2019, a testament to its pristine state.

Bugang River beckons adventure seekers with thrilling activities such as kayaking and river tubing, providing opportunities to navigate its gentle rapids while soaking in the breathtaking scenery. These adventures cater to enthusiasts of all skill levels. In addition to these waterborne pursuits, the river offers an extensive network of trekking and hiking routes, inviting explorers to delve into its upper reaches and the adjacent forests. For a more leisurely experience, tourists can savor a refreshing swim in the river’s Malumpati health spring or embark on a tranquil journey aboard bamboo rafts.
